The Monticello-Union Township Public Library is seeking a responsible, collaborative individual for the part-time Maintenance Technician position. Our ideal candidate is responsible for keeping the building and grounds clean, maintained, and inviting for visitors and staff. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Commercial cleaning experience and building maintenance experience preferred. Must have skills and knowledge in regard to general cleaning procedures and general mechanical abilities.
Maintenance Technician Position
Part-time, 26 hrs/wk, $16/hr
Education, Experience, and Skills Required for Job:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Commercial cleaning experience and/or building maintenance experience preferred
- Honest, punctual, accurate, able to maintain confidentiality
- Physical requirements include lifting/carrying objects up to 75 pounds
- Ability to climb high heights on a ladder
- Must have skills and knowledge in regard to general cleaning procedures
- Must have general mechanical abilities and knowledge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- General repair and maintenance of library equipment and buildings, such as, replacing ceiling tiles, fixing locks, doorknobs, repairing equipment and furniture, caulking sidewalks, and cleaning out gutters
- Remove trash and litter from parking lot areas; sweep debris from parking areas as needed.
- Maintain exterior building bricks and mortar
- Basic plumbing repairs
- Maintain safe and clear walkways and paths seasonally by shoveling snow,
de-icing areas, and keeping areas free of falling leaves, litter and debris - Perform lawn maintenance work when necessary such as, but not limited to, mowing, weeding, edging, trimming, raking, and setting/operating sprinklers and hoses
- Regularly inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for need of cleaning, maintenance and repair
