Adult Services Manager
Full-time,  $17.25 - $19.65 Salaried/Exempt
40 hrs/week, evenings and some Saturdays 

The Monticello-Union Township Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing individual to plan, coordinate, and provide programming focused on adults. We have an opening for a full time Adult Services Manager. The library is in the city of Monticello, which is in a perfect location for being close to the bigger metropolitan cities of Chicago and Indianapolis. Our community offers many opportunities for outdoor activities on the lakes and an amusement park, with several places to enjoy social gatherings and evening entertainment.

The Adult Services Manager would be part of the management team working closely with the Director. They will be in charge of developing and implementing programming that supports the mission of the library and follows the library’s strategic plan. The manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of adult collection. They will supervise staff in the adult department. This individual will possess leadership skills that will build on the connections and partnerships within the community.

This position requires the individual to have or be able to obtain a Librarian Certificate 5 from the State of Indiana. To be able to achieve a Librarian Certificate 5, they must have 60 credit hours of college classes with 9 hours focused on Library Science classes. A Masters of Library Science is preferred but a combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities of the Adult Services Manager include:
  • Planning and implementing programming for adults

  • Working as a team in planning library services

  • Creating and continuing connections with community organizations

  • Provide outreach services for homebound patrons

  • Assume responsibility for collection management and development

  • Select and supervise processing and cataloging of all adult materials and supplies

  • Supervise the continuous weeding and inventory of all adult materials

  • Create and maintain the monthly budget

  • Embody professional, helpful customer service attitude

Starting wage is $17.25 – $19.65, depending upon experience, – 40 hours/week, some Saturdays. Benefits included are health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, and PERF.
