March is Disability Awareness Month

2017 Large ArtThe Monticello-Union Township Public Library is pleased to join the Monticello community and thousands of Hoosiers in celebrating disability awareness month in March.

Across the United States during the month of March, Disability Awareness Month activities are underway. In Indiana, community groups, businesses, schools and other organizations are participating in a variety of events to increase our understanding that individuals with
disabilities are people first and have many abilities.

During March, the library will host a couple events to celebrate disability awareness month.

Throughout March we will have on display an art exhibit featuring art work by CDC consumers, Twin Lakes Adaptive Arts and Council on Aging. A public reception and awards night will be held at the library on Wednesday, March 1 at 7 p.m.

Guest readers will join us at our special disability awareness storytime programs. City attorney George Loy will read on Wednesday, March 15 at 4 p.m. and the guest reader for Wednesday, March 29 at 4 p.m. will be Jim Mann.

Several stories will be read about children with disabilities to an audience of children with and
without disabilities.
